What is Kehwa?

Kehwa is a traditional Kashmiri tea prepared in a coal pot called Samavar This beverage is prepared with cardamom, cinnamon, sugar and evergreen kehwa green tea leaves native to Kashmir, India and other East Asian countries.

Our Tea Mix

This tea mix is packed with authentic and aromatic loose leaf Kehwa tea pre-mixed with the traditional balance of crushed cardamom pods and cinnamon bark. This blend reminds us of our mothers and grandmothers across the Himalayan valley who made the tea on coal fire or in a Samavar to keep everyone at home warm throughout the cold Kashmiri winters. We have prepared this mix for you to easily make this traditional tea for yourself at home.

How to prepare the tea

1. Boil 1 cup water
2. In a tea kettle add 1/4 teaspoon of kehwa mix and pour the boiling water in kettle
3. Let tea steep for 5 minutes
4. Pour tea through a strainer into cup
5. Add sugar as desired. This tea is traditionally enjoyed sweetened with 1-2 teaspoons of sugar
6. Add crushed almonds. Optional, but this is the traditional method of preparation
